Chris Wiggs

Executive Director

Chris is a primatologist with extensive experience in conserving key forest habitats in concession-dominated landscapes. Before joining AidEnvironment Asia in 2017, he worked for an orangutan conservation organisation in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, where his work focused on protecting orangutan habitat and other conservation areas inside oil palm plantations. As Executive Director of Sangga Bumi Lestari, Chris works with the Programme Director to manages day to day operations of the organisation and ensure a smooth implementation of all projects. He also contributes his expertise to projects to increase the sustainability performance of Indonesia’s forestry and agricultural sectors, and conserve, recover, and connect forests in Kalimantan.

Monalisa Pasaribu

Programme Director

Monalisa is a native of Ketapang in West Kalimantan and has a degree in forest management from Tanjungpura University. Mona has worked in sustainable development for over 20 years, principally in Kalimantan but also in North Sumatra, West Java, Papua, and Ethiopia. In recent years, Mona has become an expert in the development of strategies to increase implementation of the Indonesian government’s social forestry policy. This takes two forms: supporting communities to protect their local environment and mitigate against the impacts of environmental degradation, and engaging with key government departments to encourage the development of jurisdictional approaches to support conservation and sustainable development. Mona oversees all of Sangga Bumi Lestari’s projects in Indonesia.

Dessy Rian Utami

Operations Manager

Dessy joined Sangga Bumi Lestari in 2022. She manages all operations for the organisation, ensuring the smooth running of the Jakarta, Ketapang and satellite offices, and making sure all projects can be effectively implemented. Dessy has developed all the Standard Operating Procedures and HR procedures that Sangga Bumi Lestari operates under and ensures compliance with all laws and regulations in Indonesia. Prior to joining the organisation, Dessy worked in office administration and human resources for several companies in the renewable energy sector.

Okita Miraningrum Nur Atsari

Development Manager

Okita has an educational background in industrial ecology. At Sangga Bumi Lestari, she works alongside the Executive Director and Programme Director to develop strategies for expanding and enhancing both new ideas and existing projects. She also identifies potential partnerships with other organizations and engages with the government. In her previous experience with Sangga Bumi Lestari, Okita conducted research on the oil palm and timber sectors in Indonesia and led engagements with corporate companies and other key industry stakeholders.

Emiliya Rahma Wati

Finance Manager

Emiliya holds a Master’s degree in Accounting (Tax Accounting) from Airlangga University, Surabaya, and was previously a lecturer in Accounting. She is an active member of professional associations, including the Indonesian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and holds several professional certifications, including Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountant (ASEAN CPA), and Licensed Tax Consultant. Emiliya joined Sangga Bumi Lestari in 2026 as Finance Manager, bringing strong professional experience in finance, accounting, and organisational financial management. In her role, Emiliya oversees all financial operations.

Ronny Christianto

Programme Manager – Government & Communities

Ronny has over 25 years of experience in community- based forest conservation. A native of Pontianak, Ronny manages projects in West Kalimantan to support communities seeking social forestry designation, develop collaborative strategies to manage social forestry areas, works with communities to establish sustainable livelihood initiatives, engages with the provincial and district governments to advance conservation and sustainable development goals, and develops strategies for corporate companies to conserve forests in and around concessions.

Muhamad Dani

Programme Manager – Sangga Farming

Dani leads the technical aspects of our regenerative agriculture programme, drawing on his educational background in Agrotechnology from the University of Jember and his work experience in agriculture and hydroponics. Dani’s work equips farmers in rural Indonesia to adopt regenerative agriculture techniques

Purwa Indra Santoso

Programme Coordinator - Sangga Health

Purwa is a community health practitioner with experience in developing integrated health programs that connect public health, social issues, and environmental management. His background includes reproductive and family health, community capacity‑building, health advocacy, and WASH approaches linked with circular economy practices. He is currently part of Sangga Bumi Lestari as a Sangga Health Coordinator, strengthening community health systems, supporting sustainable village development, and integrating family health perspectives into conservation and community support initiatives.

Mohammad Taufik Hidayat

Project Manager - Mendawak

Taufik has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law from Tanjungpura University. He has worked for the last seven years on a variety of programmes to advance green economies and sustainable development in West Kalimantan. At Sangga Bumi Lestari, Taufik builds on his legal and political experience to support engagement with government departments, corporate companies, communities, and other key stakeholders to advance our landscape conservation projects.

Darbin has an educational background in Forestry from Tanjungpura University. Darbin has worked in conservation programme management with non-governmental organisations in West Kalimantan for several years. Lekti Elda

Project Coordinator – Community Empowerment

Lekti joined Sangga Bumi Lestari in 2023 as Project Coordinator – Community Empowerment, working predominantly on our project in Kapuas Hulu. Lekti is a native of Kubu Raya in West Kalimantan and has spent the last few years working on projects to enhance community management of forests and facilitate inclusion of women in sustainable development. Her role at Sangga Bumi Lestari builds on this experience, focusing on supporting indigenous communities to achieve customary forest (Hutan Adat) designation and develop economic opportunities.

Hairul Sani

Project Coordinator - RTRD (Village Spatial Plan)

Hairul holds a bachelor's degree in Forestry (Forest Products Technology) from Universitas Tanjungpura. He has over a decade of experience in community-based natural resource management, working on programmes spanning social forestry, village spatial planning, and local governance across West Kalimantan. He has extensive experience supporting village-level land-use planning, customary forest recognition, and conservation area management, as well as facilitating the development of village regulations on topics such as mangrove ecosystem management and smallholder oil palm certification. At Sangga Bumi Lestari, Hairul works as Project Coordinator - RTRD (Village Spatial Plan), drawing on his extensive experience in community facilitation, spatial planning, and stakeholder engagement to support the foundation's village spatial planning initiatives.

Fitra Alhani

Programme Coordinator – Landscape Ecology & Conservation

Fitra has a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Tanjungpura University, West Kalimantan. Since graduating in 2015, Fitra has worked as a freelance botanist and High Conservation Value assessor, collaborating with several government and non-governmental organizations, mainly in West Kalimantan. Fitra has over 12 years of experience as a conservation botanist and supports our projects focusing biodiversity and landscape ecology conservation.

Muhammad Zamzam Muzamil

 Biodiversity Staff

Zamzam is a biology graduate from Padjadjaran University in West Java. He has several years of experience in biodiversity conservation, with a focus on conducting vertebrate and vegetation surveys. His experience spans many of Indonesia’s most biodiverse areas, from Kalimantan to Komodo National Park. Zamzam joined Sangga Bumi in 2024, as part of our biodiversity team in the Bentarum landscape of Kapuas Hulu.

Remang

 Biodiversity Staff

Remang is a native of Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan. He has industry experience, including roles as a process operator and staff surveyor, where he developed skills in timber measurement, testing and species identification, as well as the use of survey equipment. He is also familiar with mapping applications and camera trap deployment for wildlife monitoring. Remang has now joined Sangga Bumi Lestari as Biodiversity Staff, supporting biodiversity monitoring activities.

Sangga Farming Staff

Ilham is an Agriculture graduate specializing in Plant Breeding, with experience in agronomy, regenerative farming practices, soil health, and plant cultivation techniques. He has worked on designing research plots, monitoring crop growth, and delivering community training on sustainable agriculture. He is currently part of Sangga Bumi Lestari as a Sangga Farming Staff, supporting regenerative agriculture development and sustainable cultivation practices at the field level.

Hidayat

Restoration and Regenerative Agriculture Staff

Hidayat is a forestry graduate. He has been involved in several ecological research projects, including studies on herpetofauna, orchids, and bird diversity across forest landscapes in West Kalimantan. His work focuses on biodiversity assessment and the impacts of forest degradation on species populations. At Sangga Bumi Lestari, he serves as part of the Restoration and Regenerative Agriculture team, supporting conservation and sustainable land management initiatives.

Research Assistant

Nurul Ramadhanty Aos is a Forestry graduate from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, with extensive experience in social forestry, conservation, and protected area management. She brings expertise in various technical skills, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), statistical analysis, and digital design. Filian Basri Irpan

Programme Coordinator – Engagement and Spatial Analysis

Filian joined Sangga Bumi Lestari in 2022. He has a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Tanjungpura University and a master’s degree in forest management science from the Bogor Agricultural University. Fili has experience in Geographical Information System (GIS) and remote sensing, conducting High Conservation Value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) assessments, land-use change monitoring, and developing spatial plans to inform the implementation of landscape-based conservation projects. A registered HCS assessor, Fili coordinates our GIS team.

Habiburrachman Alfian H F

Programme Coordinator - Development and Sustainable Landscape

Habiburrachman Alfian H F has experience conducting spatial analysis on ecosystem services, modelling sustainable land use and developing interactive maps for biodiversity hotspots. Habib's work focuses on tackling environmental and climate challenges, particularly in the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector. Habib conducted his internships at Sangga Bumi in 2024 while completing his M.Sc. at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands. Habib joined us in 2025 as Programme Coordinator - Development and Sustainable Landscape.

Programme Officer – GIS and Spatial Analysis

Kusnadi is a native of Ketapang and joined Sangga Bumi Lestari in 2023 to work in our GIS team. Kusnadi has spent the last few years working as a drone pilot, GIS officer and coordinator of an orangutan monitoring and patrolling team for a conservation NGO in Ketapang. He has experience in data collection, SMART patrolling, mapping, and assisting field teams. At Sangga Bumi Lestari, Kusnadi conducts land-use change monitoring and land-use change analysis of key landscapes.

Mohammad Taufiq Hidayat (known as Jawe) has a background in environmental conservation and sustainable development, having contributed to numerous impactful projects focused on wildlife monitoring, habitat restoration, and community engagement. At Sangga Bumi Lestari, Jawe leverages his expertise in drone technology, land-use change analysis and GIS software to support our Bentarum project.

Hasri (Dila) provides administrative support to our team in Kapuas Hulu, ensuring a smooth running of our project in the Betung Kerihun-Danau Sentarum landscape. Imanuel Febrianto Dagang

Village Facilitator

Febrianto is a resident of Sungai Utik, currently contributing to community-based initiatives in Kapuas Hulu. With a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Politeknik Negeri Pontianak, he has been actively involved in local development efforts, including serving as Chairman of the Keling Menua Tourism Group and as a Field Staff for Serakop Iban Perbatasan. Known for his integrity, teamwork, and eagerness to learn, Febrianto brings valuable technical and interpersonal skills to every role he undertakes. He has now joined Sangga Bumi Lestari as a Village Facilitator.

Libertus Luben Aden

Village Facilitator

Libertus completed his bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Forestry, Tanjungpura University, and has since been actively involved in various social and environmental initiatives. He has experience as a facilitator in tenurial conflict resolution, participatory mapping of customary territories, and social forestry assistance. He also serves as the Head of a Community Forest Farmers Group, where he leads community-based forest management and the development of productive economic enterprises. Simon Pabaras Armansyah

Village Facilitator

Simon is a seasoned community organiser and indigenous rights advocate with over two decades of experience in grassroots leadership, capacity building, and policy advocacy. A graduate of Sanata Dharma University’s Faculty of Engineering, Simon has held key roles in national and international indigenous networks, including AMAN, APIYN, and the UN Global Indigenous Youth Caucus. His work spans from facilitating leadership training and participatory planning in indigenous territories to representing indigenous voices at global forums such as the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Simon now contributes his deep expertise and commitment to Sangga Bumi Lestari as a Village Facilitator.

Ernalinda Mangkoan is a Forestry graduate from Tanjungpura University. She has experience in collecting and analysing social and environmental data, including research on the use of medicinal plants by local communities and web-based village data management. Emiliana Febriyani

Village Facilitator

Emiliana is a graduate of Urban and Regional Planning from Tanjungpura University, with experience in research, field facilitation, and community-based project management. Village Facilitator

Achmad is a Forestry graduate from Tanjungpura University. He has extensive experience in fieldwork and community facilitation. Achmad has been involved in various forest and land rehabilitation projects, carbon inventory assessments, and forestry surveys. Florentina is a native of West Kalimantan and a graduate of the Faculty of Forestry at Tanjungpura University. She has experience in field data collection, natural tourism potential analysis, and community facilitation. Wilhelmina Nensi

Village Facilitator

Wilhelmina comes from Labian Ira'ang Village in Kapuas Hulu and is a graduate of the Faculty of Forestry at Tanjungpura University. She has experience in biodiversity research and has been actively involved in forest rehabilitation and natural resource conservation activities. Wilhelmina has also participated in drone mapping training and served as a field assistant in Forest and Land Rehabilitation (RHL) programmes. She is currently contributing as a Village Facilitator in a conservation project with Sangga Bumi Lestari.

Abdul Waif

Project Assistant - Mendawak

Abdul Waif is a Forestry graduate with experience in environmental research, ecosystem management, and community empowerment across West Kalimantan. Widya is a science graduate from Tanjungpura University with a strong interest in research, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement. Agus Sutomo

Chairman of Governing Board

Agus Sutomo resides in Pontianak and possesses extensive experience in conflict resolution and sustainability issues within the palm oil industry. As the Director of Teraju Foundation, Agus Sutomo supports community empowerment and advocates for the rights of forest-dependant people. He has particular experience in supporting the rights of Kalimantan’s Indigenous people, ensuring access to their customary lands.

Bob Eko Kurniawan

Member of Supervisory Board

Bob Eko Kurniawan brings extensive experience in Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) with a particular focus on sustainable reporting. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from the National University and a Master in Urban Housing Management from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Throughout his career, Bob Eko Kurniawan has been deeply involved in sustainability issues and project management.
